Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!!
Christmas here was nice, but it kind of felt like it came out of nowhere, as it hasn't snowed here, so I haven't really felt in the Christmas spirit. Also feeling kind of ill today, so that's no good either.
Got lots of lovely presents including Scrabble (YAYE), monkey pajamas (which I am wearing all day today, as we are going nowhere), complete British office series (Tim/Dawn forevah), Johnny Cash, Evanescene (twice!), a monkey toy and POTC: DMC and various other little things.
Somewhat related to Christmas is that we went last week to see the Stuart McClean Christmas Show. For those of you not from Canada, he tells these wonderfully hilarious and touching stories which are mostly about a family living in Canada called the Vinyl Cafe. Was great fun! He also has musical guests (which included Murray McLaughlin and the Bebop Cowboys), and tries to include one young up and coming artist in the show. This year he chose Roxanne Potvin, who was an incredible folksy/bluesy type singer, who was just fantastic. I bought her CD, and she signed it for me (such a sweetheart) and thought I'd upload it for you all, as it is very good. I highly recommend you download it! Features guest guitar playing by Bruce Cockburn and some very lovely songs in both French and English (I believe there's one song on there in French, which is just beautiful).

I have no Christmas icons...so have Roxanne instead!

Date: 2006-12-26 10:25 am (UTC)I think our southern friends would get the idea of Vinyl Café better if you just called it the Canadian Answer to Prairie Home Companion -g-
I always meant to catch one of their shows, but no joy so far.
