Help!

So I got a new laptop today (YAYE) but the only problem I am having is with the wireless router. From the instructions it seems like you need two ethernet cables for it to work, but it only comes with one? Am I just incredibly stupid that I can't figure this out? Or what?

Hmm. Very strange. I can't imagine needing two ethernet cables...my desktop computer hooks into our wireless router via a single ethernet cable, while my laptop equipped with a wireless card doesn't need any. You should be able to set up the wireless network without one, and then use windows to search for available networks and be good to go.

yeah...it just needs the one...I am just slow...I talked to my tech support aka philburt and got it all worked out!

scratch that...I just called the tech support for the router and I was told I need two cables...one to connect the modem to the computer and one to connect the router to the computer...trouble is there is only one spot on the computer for plugging in an ethernet cable

Tech support people are dumb. Ideally for setup you should have one cable from the modem to the router, then one from the computer to the router. You can get by for setup with one cable from the computer to the router, get the wireless working, then connect wirelessly, use the cable to then go from the modem to the router, and configure the internet connection (if necessary) using the wireless.

yeah...we just need a wireless adapter for the desktop computer now
and an ethernet cable as well I guess
